Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/30/2019

Number: 1000

My husband was just into the very south end of Clark county Kansas and said the trees were full of what we think are Monarchs. He said it was an amazing sight!!

Editor's note: contacted observer for more details on this sighting

My husband can't confirm the date the roost 1st formed. He farms & ranches in that area with his family but doesn't usually go down that road.

He saw the roost at 4:30 pm Monday, Sept 30th.

There is a row of trees, possibly 8-9 Cottonwood trees. He observed these in a smaller tree.

The number is a guess/estimate.

The overnight temperature was 72
The wind was blowing out of the South . . . straight North. Blowing 30-35 mph
Yes, they were shielded from the wind. They were all on the North side of the tree.
