This picture was taken on 29 September 2019 at 3:47pm CST in the oval garden in front of Lincoln Park Conservatory.

The weather was mostly cloudy with highs/lo's around 70F/64F. Humidity was 88% with winds from the E at roughly 7 mph. (Source:https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/usa/chicago/historic)

Although only 4 adult monarchs are visible in this picture, I counted well over 50 elsewhere in the garden. There were also smaller clusters to the south in Lincoln Park (near the nature boardwalk outside Lincoln Park Zoo and elsewhere.

The monarchs were all busy nectaring.

I did not expect to see such numbers of monarchs as numbers had been dwindling and small during my visits over the last two weeks. What a pleasant surprise.
