Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/30/2019

Number: 500

Congrats on this effort. The concern over monarchs is paying off through local conservation efforts such as milkweed plantings.
I am 70 years old, a lay scientist with two degrees in natural resources and a devotion to conservation efforts. It would be crazy for me to enter "sightings' on a daily basis because each day I see dozens of monarchs. We live on Long Island, NY's coastal shore and have observed monarch migrations all my life. I only wanted to report that I have observed probably a 10 fold increase over last year in both breeding and migrating monarchs. I am in the process of converting a traditional 117 vegetable farm into a "conservation farm" through pollinator plantings and reversion to grasslands wetlands, etc. FYI.
