At Superstore in Strathroy and I was looking at their potted mum plants. I noticed a Monarch clinging onto a pot at the very far end where there was shelter from the rain. We had heavy rains and thundershowers all night. I bought a pot full of flowers and placed it in my car along with the Monarch. We have 8 acres of grassland and wild meadows. So I took her there to my fields. It is also not far from the lake. We see the Monarchs make their journey along hawk cliff near Port Stanley. I may drive her down there if she gets stronger. She may have been taking a break. I gave her Queens Anne's lace this morning.
Hope she can still make it?
We are in Melbourne,Ontario and we used to have hundreds of butterflies on our fields that we keep natural. No we are up to 5 butterflies. We count them in the summer. Two yrs ago we only had 3. We have lots and lots of milkweed.
Many predators too so perhaps I can help them more next summer.
