A large Monarch glided by me as I was standing off the driveway near the garage. Still a good amount of native nectar sources ( a few kinds of asters and goldenrods ) although a good amount of them have gone by or going by. Not as much as a couple weeks ago. Light wind. Cloudy and 60 degrees. I hadn’t seen a monarch here since mid September so I was surprised to see one flying around in the cool and cloudy weather. They need to do what they need to do I guess.
When I went to the transfer station a few miles away that afternoon, another large monarch hovered close to me as I was emptying my trash and recycling.
