Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/03/2019

Number: 2

At 12:10 I saw one monarch near Gainesville, GA off Friendship Road. It was registering 91 degrees in the shade and was incredibly hot with little breeze and bright sunshine. The monarch floated above a parking lot for a bit and then headed off in a westerly direction. We are in a severed drought and flowers are scanty. Thank heavens the goldenrod are holding on along the roadsides.

At 2:15 later today at Tallulah Gorge State Park, a monarch floated right by us while we were walking near the Lake area. Again, it was 91 degrees in the shade. Did not see it alight as it flew off across the lake.
