After having seen what I thought was my last hummingbird sighting of the season on Sept 14, another bird appeared on Sept 23. This bird continues to visit my feeder throughout the day, dawn to dusk. We have had only one morning with a frost temp of 32 but it has been rainy, raw and blustery. In 2012 I had late season Ruby-throat arrive on Oct 4 which I observed until it was last seen on Oct 14, 2012. That bird I believe holds the record for late season Ruby-throat in NH. I sure hope this bird does not intend to try and break the record. I love watching hummingbirds but when Autumn arrives in the White Mountains of NH, these birds should be long gone to their wintering grounds.
