Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/26/2019

Number: 1

This male monarch was on the ground unable to fly (temperature was only 10 degrees Celsius) so brought it inside for overnight in rearing cage. It had half a leg missing and another leg seemed weak. I fed it sugar water next morning (as learned from Monarch Teachers Network) and released it when weather warmed up around noon.
Was delighted to see it spend the day flying around and nectaring, mostly on Tropical Milkweed, Asclepias curassavica, and basking in my yard!
