I counted about a dozen monarch butterflies (and many more painted ladies) nectaring on tithonia and Brazilian verbena at Longfellow Gardens in South MInneapolis at about 4:15 pm. All of their wings were very bright and fresh, ready for long-distance flight! Lots of activity in the garden on this sunny day of 65 degrees, after nearly a week of rain, clouds, and temps in the 50s.
