Expecting this is our last day to see hummers this 2019 season I camped out by the feeders from 4:20 pm to 7pm. Temperature got up to a high of 64 degrees midday with mostly sunny skies. Wind was steady all day at 7-8mph out of the NNE to NE. observation temperatures ranged from a start of 61 degrees dropping to 55 degrees last sighting. At 4:25pm one very large adult female at feeder then flew off southward. At 4:40pm a smaller female stopped at another feeder then flw southward. At 5:50pm a very small hummer hit upon last remaining petunias in a hanging flower basket before flying off, but didn't drink from feeders. At 6:20pm two female hummers simultaneously stopped at same feeder one drank and flew off the other made two return trips between resting in nearby tree before flying southward. At 6:47pm a female adult hummer caming flying in very fast hit one feeder and then another feeder in rapid succession before departing southward. Overnight lows expected again in high 40 degree range. Probable last sighting report, unless any further sightings feeders will now be maintained for two weeks from last sighting for the 2019 season.
