She was laying eggs on my milkweed but I already had 3 caterpillars there, who proceeded to devour both potted milkweed plants on my patio.

A few years ago, my milkweed was outside in mid December and I had 5 or 6 large caterpillars. A couple of days before Christmas, we got a cold snap so I brought a cocoon into my house, and it emerged Christmas morning. It was warmer then, so I put it outside. That was amazing.
