Temp 60, Sunny, Winds gusting out of the SW 15-30.
We have had a stream in and out all day. Feeding on the Mexican sunflower and butterfly bush's.
They seem hungry as they have aggressively cashed away the painted ladies and don’t mind us getting close up pictures.
We had our first frost last night so this sunshine today is so beneficial for them.
I suspect they will roost tonight and take off tomorrow in the morning as the winds are expected to be more calm around 5-10 in the next 12 or so hours.
It’s been another fun year reporting on the Journey North Page and I can’t wait to hear what the population count is later this year from Mexico.
This year we did not have any drought conditions in NE Kansas so the food source was in great supply all summer and I imagine that played a role in the above normal sightings we had this this late summer / early fall.
God Speed to the last of the ones still making their way South this year.
