Wow! I am touring through the area and was very surprised to see a Monarch while waiting for a car to turn off the road. It flew right up to my windshield and fluttered off. It was just south of the US-Canada border. I think this one must be a straggler and very late, but I have noticed some wildflowers still in bloom such as Asters.
