Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/16/2019

Number: 2

I have milkweed in my yard and plant a lot of flowers for pollinators. I would see 3-5 Monarchs around most of the summer. Last year I had around a dozen around in August. When they hatched last year (Sept 12th), I had around 50 in my yard. When they hatched this year, I initially had around 40, but as we got further into September, the numbers kept growing and I we believe we had 100 to 120 when all the other food in the area was dying before they started going South. Many other species also like Common Buckeyes, Painted Ladies and lesser numbers of others. On the best days we probably had over 200 butterflies in our flower patches. 3-4 years ago we had 4-6 Monarchs maximum, the numbers keep getting larger every year.
