No monarchs were seen October 12-19th because of very cold, rainy, and windy conditions with very little sunshine. However, my wife and I decided to take a ride in the car today around the town of Harrisville on a nice sunny Sunday. We headed to the public library where we saw no monarchs in their flower gardens. We met Larry riding his bicycle and he said he just saw 7 monarchs in town along the main walkway between the two large lawns. So my wife and I went there and observed 2 monarchs still nectaring on dandelions. I was able to net and tag (AAEL-973) a female monarch, and released it. We then went to the harbor where we saw 4 monarchs on knapweed flowers. I was able to net and tag (AAEL-974) a male monarch, and released it. That was the last of my 50 tags. I have now tagged 37 reared and 13 wild monarchs since August 13th. We then went to the state park and added another monarch flying over a building into the park. The weather was sunny with a few high clouds with the Wind ESE-5-8 mph. The Temperature was 56F. A storm system moves in tomorrow with falling temperatures the rest of the coming week.
