One adult monarch sighted at Scenic Vista overlooking the Russell P. Letterman Wild Area on Hall's Run Mountain. This is a high plateau area surrounded by lots of updrafts and winds coming off the nearby mountain valleys. The Overlook had a couple remaining purple thistle plants in bloom. Temps in the area are ranging from 40 - 65 degrees F. Last summer (2019) this route through the Sproul State Forrest was host to hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of monarchs and miles and miles of roadside lined with common milkweed and wildflowers.
