Today at 1:35 I spotted this male monarch nectaring on a butterfly bush. It was overcast and warm with a slight breeze.
At 2:15 I found a female also nectaring on a butterfly bush. At 3:15 I noticed her resting (?) first on a dogwood tree leaf, then floating, then resting on an ironweed leaf, then floating, then going up onto my serviceberry tree where she stayed for some time on a leaf.
I thought I spotted a monarch just above the tree tops when I was walking my dog around 2 p.m., but I could not confirm. He/she was traveling SW on a pretty strong breeze.
