10:50-11:30 am at The Tip at Point Pelee National Park saw 15 Monarchs & 3 more while driving through West Beach Parking lot.
Gorgeous Clear 14°c with high forecast at 17°c & overnight low of 8c.
SW wind @17/22 kmh due to change to SE & decrease between 3 & 5 pm to 6/15 kmh allowing for ease across the lake. Similar weather for Oct. 29th presenting another opportunity for monarchs to journey south over Lake Erie.
Observed 2 test the wind just over shoreline but returned to trees.
One 'nectared'? On senesced goldenrod. Very little in bloom but still Asters & Knapweed which the bees are very much enjoying.
Returned to Tip @ 5:40 pm to 6:20. Sunset 6:30. Did not see any monarchs arrive. Lake was so calm...just a ripple. Observed 2 Monarchs individually roosting in Hackberry branches over west path.
Rain expected in a couple days along with much cooler temps & possible freezing, temp at 0 this weekend.
