About 11 a.m. today, I saw a monarch circling around an intersection near my home and then heading east and then south. About 11:10 I spotted another monarch about tree top level fighting to go south against winds from the south. When I got to my house around 11:15 there was a monarch nectaring on my butterfly bush but it did not stay long.
Today is blustery after overnight rains but it is warm - 71 degrees - with intermittent showers and a cold front coming through. Unfortunately, we are expecting frost tomorrow morning! I worry about the late travelers.
