I did not expect to see them. I am new to the area. I went outside while on break at work, and the field had a dozen or more.
After referencing online photos, I confirmed these butterflies do not have the lower line thru the wing like the Viceroy butterfly.
Last night was our first freeze, but since sunrise, the day has steadily warmed and the sky is clear with few clouds. The breeze is lite and the temperature is around 59 degrees Fahrenheit.
