Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 11/01/2019

Number: 2

I saw couple of Monarchs at Clearville Park on Nov 1. Conditions - sunny with a temp of 47 F but warmer in sunny areas. These butterflies were searching for nectar plants. There is still a small amount of red clover on the ground. I was surprised to see active Monarchs on such a chilly day. This is always a sad time of year to see a Monarch struggling against strong head winds. Weather forecast over the next several weeks is cold. Logic dictates that they have zero chance of reaching Mexico.
