At the Botanical Gardens, our class saw about 30 Monarch butterflies on the morning of October 28. The butterflies were gathering nectar. They were flying from plant to plant. It looked like some monarchs were being chased by Purple Martins. When our class first arrived, it was still pretty chilly and there were not many Monarchs flying around. As the morning warmed up, more Monarchs became active and visible. We also saw some eggs on milkweed plants.
