A few hundred feet east of Laura and Gail's sighting at Rotary park, during the same time period, approximately November 18th, we saw a monarch and 5 caterpillars & one christallis on the 3 year old A. subulata plants I planted 3 years ago.The largest cataillar was about 2 inches long. I do not have pictures. As of yesterday all the catapillars were gone, perhaps to birds. We were devastated. How can we protect them next year?
