Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 12/16/2019

Number: 1

Our immature male rufous hummingbird first observed in our yard 1 December 2019 appears to have taken up residence in our yard for the winter. We have seen it just about every day. It seems to prefer flowers to feeders, as we very rarely see it on the feeders.
Correction to our 9 December 2019 report - one of the hummingbirds was an immature male ruby-throated hummingbird, not a black-chinned hummingbird (as photos later revealed). Pictured in the 9 December 2019 report was an immature male ruby-throated hummingbird.
