In a mesh enclosure, a male monarch emerged from his chrysalis in late morning.
Overnight low temperature in the north-facing mesh enclose was low 40s. Top of one wing had a bit of floppiness.
In mid-afternoon, Monarch was moved to a sunny location on a lantana bush. It moved to a shadier spot on the lantana & spent time flapping his wings; there was pronounced shivering.
After about 30 minutes in the partly shaded lower lantana flowers, he successfully flew off.
