Sightings report image

Date: 01/24/2020

Number: 1

A few weeks ago I first saw a hummer dart by but couldn't get a good look at it but I could tell it was a reddish color. I put fresh nectar out and saw it very briefly for a few seconds here and there for a few days. Today I saw what I believe is the same hummer who is reddish brown with white areas and a dark throat - I believe it's a male Rufous. I saw him this morning very close feeding on one of my Russelia's which still have blooms in spite of some frosts we have had. I dashed back in and made fresh nectar and waited...and he came back! I seldom see these where I live.
