Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/05/2020

Number: 500

Wave after wave just after sunrise. All heading west northwest. Lasted for about 20 minutes.

I was out with my dog just after sunrise. We were on the top of a hill when wave after wave of robins started coming, with 10 to 15 seconds between each wave. They were all flying silently in the same direction (WNW.) They seemed to appear out of nowhere… I couldn’t see where they were coming from and I couldn't see how far they were going. This continued for about 15 to 20 minutes. Flocks were mostly about 20 or 30 birds I think. Often more. It was very hard to count. I tried to count in blocks and multiply. But they just kept coming!

My estimate was about 500! But if you do the calculations, it would be much more.

This was a “WOW” moment for me.
