Quite possibly these two robins may be over wintering robins that have come out from one of the densely wooded areas in my locale. It appeared they were feeding upon things found upon the ground. The ground isn't frozen near as deeply as in past winters and the top six inches are definitely thawed, possibly due to my areas lack of snow and temperatures being at or above the norm by about 5 degrees this winter. These are the first robins I have seen since winter began in 2019. The day was definitely a nice one as the daily temperature was expected to be 54 degrees, sunny with light breezes. Both this day and the day before were 15 to 20 degrees warmer than the normal average temperature for this time of the year. These two days also were the first sunny days after nearly two weeks of constant cloudy overcasts.Temps have since returned to closer to normal temperature averages of 32 degrees and are expected to continue along average temp range. No further robin sightings since since the normal temps have returned.
