Today I placed a potted, blooming tropical milkweed into my backyard garden to get some sun. I was surprised to see a wild male monarch visiting the flowers at 1:18 pm. It was sunny and 67 degrees. I captured him and rated him as a Condition 2, i.e. some slight scratches on the wings. After tagging him for the SW Monarch study (BL131) I released him.
