I live close to a lake that is part of the central BC Okanagan flyway where loons migrate, usually staying for a couple of days of fishing and yodeling before heading further north. I have never seen or heard a loon before April until today when a male flew away as I approached on my dock. It flew to the middle of the lake and yodeled. Fascinating to see such early appearance of a Spring bellweather migrator! Robins are here and geese flocks have been flying in V's northward earlier than most Springs.
