Saw one Monarch butterfly on my milkweed flowers, then a few days later, we saw two on same day.
I have a friend over 150 miles south of us in Merritt Island, FL who has seen monarchs all winter long, but we usually do not see them. These were the first Monarchs we had seen since Sept. or Oct. of 2019. We don’t usually see them in our part of Florida during our winter months. Of course, I have no way of knowing if this pair had migrated from Mexico or south Florida. Interlachen is located in North East Florida, about 50 miles south of Jacksonville, FL.
They did lay eggs on my milkweed plants, but we have had 2 or 3 nights that temperatures dropped to low 40’s, doubt these will hatch out.
