This is a follow up of today's [overwintering] Rufous here, that being of flowers I mention in every report of what it likes.

It would be great if for example Seth in New Orleans would relay what cuphea his banded Rufous is nectcaring on in last report photo.

It helps others who have overwinter hummingbirds in gulf states to know what plants attract hummers in winter.

Here is must list below of what blooms in winters in gulf areas including Houston if you want to attract hummers.

Bkack & blue salvia
Purple Aimstead-friendship sage, Embers wish sage, purple Rockin sage
Fountain plant-ruellia
Skull cap in hanging baskets
Blueberry bushes.

When ruby throats come in spring*(May):
Ruellia, red, yellow Hamelia pattens, canna lilies, skull cap,potted pinapple sage.all above purple sages are blooming year round.

Regular greggi Salvia just bloom in fall sometimes.
