Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 03/10/2020

Number: 1

My gf just sent me a cell-phone photo of a male monarch (definitely a monarch, not a viceroy, and definitely a male) taken in the park next to the school where she works.

The park is in a residential area with LOTS of greenery – trees, shrubs, gardens, etc – and the park itself has a community garden, which almost certainly contributes to the number of birds, bees, butterflies, etc. in the immediate area.

“Winter” (or what passes for it in Texas) almost completely didn’t happen this year. Our lowest temp was one day back in October, when it went down to 28. We had temps in the high 70s back in February.
