Signs of Spring

Date: 03/11/2020

Number: 1

Robins are seeking worms in masse, but it is still too cold and dry for the worms to come to the surface - worried that the birds have arrived sooner than their food sources will be available. No protein or fat sources for after their long journey, but I do have berries on my trees. Trying to feed high fat seeds as much as possible.
Migratory birds are starting to appear: Junco's are new today. Goldfinch males are starting to turn yellow - way too early. Saw first red wing blackbird as well as two types of sparrows. More wood peckers coming for suet.
