Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 03/14/2020

Number: 1

I saw one adult flitting around my yard on Saturday afternoon. It was checking out the few blossoms on our orange trees. I don't know if that is something they like, but it's one of the few things we have flowering at this point.

The monarch was not faded, and not tattered or frayed. It was flying near the Satsuma orange trees on our property. (There are a few orange blossoms, already.) The only milkweed I have are two small plants a friend dug up for me from her yard to transplant to mine (pink Swamp milkweed).

The only other butterflies I've seen so far this Spring are the yellow ones called White Cabbage butterflies. (We do still have a bit of cabbage in our garden).

There are a lot of white aster-type wildflowers right now, and fuchsia colored Azaleas blooming across the street.
