Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 03/15/2020

Number: 2

Just sitting here on the 11th floor balcony overlooking the gulf and two butterflies came flying by - trying to get past the building

They flitted by the balcony quickly. Being on the 11th floor, there was no opportunity to follow them. They gave the impression of wanting to get around this tall building blocking their way to the interior. I did not see them well enough to determine how worn they appeared.

Today (3/17/20) while biking in Gulf Shores State Park, I saw a Monarch at ground level just flitting about.

I have not noticed any milkweed, but I am also not familiar with the terrain here. We have only been here three days. I will keep an eye out. While biking I did see two swallowtails in the marsh area. I also saw a small yellow butterfly in a picnic area.
