Monarch ovipositing on Asclepias asperula - Antelope horns milkweed. You can see previously deposited eggs in the photo. This native milkweed was barely up when Monarchs started ovipositing eggs and it is becoming overwhelmed by the numbers of eggs on each small plant. The Monarchs first arrived 3-10 which is a week earlier than last year.
