Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 03/31/2020

Number: 54

We counted 54 monarchs from noon - 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 29, at Rick Evans Grandview Prairie. It was partly sunny with temperatures in the mid 60s. We counted 30 in the first hour and 24 in the second hour. Most were nectaring on rose vervain that grows along the roads. The majority of the butterflies had tears on the edges of their wings and were missing some scales. We only saw one that appeared to be a new generation butterfly.
