Number: 1

7:30 PM, 50 degrees, minimal breeze Our Sand Hill Crane, Fred Astaire (because he likes to dance :) appeared in his favorite evening eating place (for shelled corn) with a mate. Last summer, (2019) Freds mate disappeared; we assumed she may have been killed by a coyote.

Fred was heart broken, and finished 2019 alone. This spring, he was solo when he arrived; and spent several weeks leaving our property, generally flying north eastlooking for a mate.

Were thrilled to see Fred brought his bride home :) Theyre strolling through the yard, pasture, driveway, wetland and west pasture area.
