Sightings report image

Date: 04/01/2020

Number: 42

A count of 42. Had to buy more milkweed. As you can see by the photo, the new plants had to be sprayed. I lost all but five. The nurseryman assured me they were safe. It broke my heart. Pls everyone make sure your plants are safe.

Editor's note: mortality likely due to Tachinid Fly parasitism. Note white string material. Observer agrees, stating:

We had a record breaking heat wave here in Pensacola Florida and I saw a large amount of large blue flys all over my yard. I was unaware of the damage they can do to cats. I saw a lot of photos on the net which showed that long white thread. I was so sadden to watch all of mine die. I have been a half way station for seven years and that’s the first time I have experienced such a defeat.
