Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/28/2020

Number: 3

A few weeks back we saw our first Monarch, tattered from the long trip from Mexico, but magnificent nonetheless. A couple weeks later, we had some beautiful caterpillars on our milkweed, just as the milkweed was growing seed pods. About a week later, I noticed a Monarch chrysalis hanging from a red passionflower vine about five feet away from the milkweed. I thought it would be bigger, but it's only about an inch (2.5 cm) long. Very pretty. It's been a little over a week now since I first saw the chrysalis. I hope it hatches soon!
