Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/04/2020

Number: 3

We have a small number of Monarch caterpillars munching on our milkweed plants. The mockingbirds make me nervous. We have a LOT of Gulf fritillary butterflies that use our passionflower vines (blue passionflower and red passionflower), and sometimes the mockingbirds eat those caterpillars. But we have so many that our yard supplies the whole neighborhood with Gulf fritillaries. They have a similar orange color, different markings, and are smaller than their Monarch relatives.
