Hummingbird, Other Observations

Date: 04/04/2020

Number: 3

Two female Ruby throated hummingbirds (named Ita and Chispa) and on male (Joe) who frequent our backyard. They all like the same perch in a Live oak tree. It is a small twig, a foot long or more and about an eighth of an inch in diameter. Halfway along the twig there is a level section about that is lower than either end of the twig. Joe has removed the leaves from this section of the twig and that is where the hummingbirds like to perch (Ita, Joe, and Cispa in order of frequency). The perch is about 7 feet above the ground, almost directly above a hummingbird feeder. That tree has three hummingbird feeders and there is one feeder in the other Lieo oak tree in the backyard.
