NEW Monarchs! Up until now we had only seen a tattered Monarch after she made the Journey North from her winter home in Mexico. Not long after, we had three monarch caterpillars munching on our tropical milkweed (Asclepias curassavica). About two weeks ago, we noticed a Monarch chrysalis attached to a red Passionflower vine (Passiflora racemose) 5 to 10 feet away from the milkweed. At first I thought the chrysalis was too small, approximately 1-inch long, but that is the normal size. Beautiful milky light green with gold dots around the top. Sunday the chrysalis appeared darker.
