I'm NOT a teacher, but for 25 years I've been helping Damascus 2nd graders to track monarchs during autumn migrations.
Today (4/22) I observed a weathered, bleached monarch migrant in Charlottesville VA, (where I'm visiting).
About 5:00 p.m. on Earth Day she circled and surveyed a flower garden in C'ville's Ivy Creek Natural Area - choosing tiny sprouts of Common Milkweed that spilled into a gravelly garden path. Here she lay ca.10 eggs, ignoring larger milkweed plants within cultivated garden zones.I've tried to send you pictures but to no avail. ew
