Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/22/2020

Number: 1

It's a happy 50th Earth Day at Monarch Waystation #271! While planting nectar plants in the back yard at 3:50 pm I saw a gorgeous male Ruby-throated hummingbird nectar at my Columbine patch. As soon as we locked eyes he was gone with the red blur of his throat flashing in the sun. The way all my Columbines have been bursting with blooms made me suspect the birds were here awhile, I just wasn't out the right time to see them. Other sightings reported here for the area confirm this.
