Fluttering around the Gaura minutes after I put it outside.
I have Pollinator gardens throughout my acre yard and an additional 5 acres of natural space including wetlands and a vernal pond. Also am across from a wildlife preserve. So, get all sorts of butterflies and moths in season. I am 99%+ certain this was a monarch due to the more vibrant orange and the markings. It was during an unusually warm stretch of weather we had. I was outside getting flowers ready for the hummingbirds - it showed up on the flowers - and unfortunately by the time I went inside for the camera and got back out it was gone.
I have common & swamp milkweed as well as butterfly weed but at least in my yard it’s not yet up. Can’t really say for sure in the adjacent wild areas, there’s tons of it there, but I’d be surprised if it’s up.
Could it have come home with me in one of the plants??
