I AM Journey North and have been for several years now. It has been quite a journey for me.

In this photo I am standing next to the dried stems of swamp milkweed. I can hardly wait to see the first green shoots poking up from the ground.

This Swamp Milkweed was planted around 5 years ago, just a few feet from a small pond which attracts wood frogs and spotted salamanders. Before adding the swamp milkweed, I had to travel off my property to observe monarch butterflies and to take photos to submit to JN.

During the first season fo the swamp milkweed, I had monarchs visit this wetland, much to my delight! And every summer monarchs have found this small habitat. And I am able to keep track of them in all their life stages, thus able to submit, easily, my sightings to Journey North.

I've also been able to create several public pollinator programs that high- light monarch butterflies because of what I've learned through closer observation and study of these iconic butterflies.
