Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/03/2020

Number: 1

A male Ruby-throated Hummer acme in at 4:45pm feeding from feeder. Temperature was 70 degrees, NW winds at 7mph with gusts of 12mph, cloudy overcast and 22% humidity. He didn't stay real long before heading off in a northern direction. Thoughts are he was a northward migrator as we saw no reappearance of a hummer the rest of the day. I had a few friends in the nearby town message me that they too had seen a hummer at their feeders. Currently I don't have much in bloom, except hanging baskets of petunias, for them to nectar from. My crabapple trees are a few days from being in full bloom at which time I will probably start seeing my resident hummers appearing.
