I heard them a day or 2 Before finally seeing them. Served jelly & SUGAR water on East backyard then yesterday put out grape jelly on Westside of house where I feed a sizable specific & selective buffet for wintering & now migratory birds.
Had a mama bear & 2 cubs problem last year eating the jelly...they are not around this year so far!
